Children's Services
Valley House is a designated Sure Start Children’s Centre which provides a whole range of activities to support children aged 0-5 and their families.
Every Children's Centre covers a different area of Coventry, and ours stretches from Courthouse Green up to Little Heath, Longford and Foleshill.
It does not matter if you live in a different area - if you want to come to Valley House, you will be made very welcome.
Activity Groups for Parents and Children
We offer a wide variety of exciting groups for children and parents. These include:
Stay and Play
These sessions provide all your child’s favourite activities including sand, water, outdoor play, dressing up, and craft activities! They also include story and song time. See our timetable.
Messy and Creative Play
Creative and messy play promotes learning and development in children and it’s important for children to express themselves in many different ways. Giving a child the freedom to draw or create something by themselves will liberate them and give them confidence – it’s also great fun! At our Creative Play sessions children have lots of opportunity to develop their creative skills – see our time table for more details.
Brunch
Our Brunch sessions are all about fun with food. Come and cook and eat with your children and collect some healthy recipes for main meals, snacks and packed lunches. Staff can support you with lots of food related problems like fussy eating, introducing new foods, and mealtime routines. See our timetable for details.
Wild Green Garden
Children love the outdoors, and we have our own special spaces for children to learn about wildlife and nature. Over the spring and summer we’ll be growing our own flowers, herbs, salad and vegetables! See our timetable for details.
Family Support
At Valley House we know that bringing up children is never easy. Trained and experienced staff can support you with all the challenges you may face as a parent. We can visit you in your home or you can come to Valley House.
We can offer you advice and information about anything from pregnancy to toddler tantrums, accessing childcare, dealing with difficult behaviour, sleep routines and going to school. If we can’t help you, we have contacts with lots of different specialist agencies that we can signpost you to.
Art Therapy
Art Therary sessions are for parents and childen who have experienced trauma or significant challenges in their lives. For example: bereavement, bullying, domestic violence and abuse, divorce/separation or relationship breakdown. Six weekly hour-long sessions include painting, collage, clay modelling and a range of other creative techniques to help children and adults explore difficult events in their lives.
